Venues Love SBJ. Here’s what a few venue directors and managers have said. There are lots more I can share.

“Bill delivers an authentic James Taylor Experience. Our audiences have already asked when we’ll have him back – and we can’t wait.”
(John Moynihan – Firehouse Arts Center, MA)

“You are a true professional and a pleasure to work with. Please feel free to give my name to any wishing more information.”
(Jay Keller – Athens DeLand Theatre, FL)

“From his easy and inviting manner to his artistic virtuosity he brought the crowd along for a beautiful evening of JT music.”
(Kelly Thomas – Maxwell Theatre, GA)

“Not only a great performance our supporters thoroughly enjoyed, but also great communication in advance of the show, and a joy to be around before and after the performance.”
(Marc Steczyk – Lincoln Amphitheater, IN)

“Bill Griese puts on a wonderful show! He is personable, funny and sounds so much like James Taylor that you have to remind yourself it isn’t JT on stage. Bill is professional, incredibly talented and super easy to work with.”
(Sally Hollenbach – The Ohio Theatre, OH)

“You were a gift to our audience, a joy to work with and a great talent! Thanks again for a memorable evening of music.”
(Susan Varella – Skylight Music Theatre, WI)

“Bill’s show was fantastic. A great evening of James Taylor songs that the audience thoroughly enjoyed (and sang along to). He was also extremely easy to work with.”
(Gary Peterson – Bijou Theatre, CT)

Audiences Love SBJ. I have tons of real audience Reviews submitted on Facebook, with a 5-star rating. You can read them all there. Here are just a few:

“I am a big concert person. Between real acts and tribute bands I easily see 20 concerts a year. Sweet Baby James is the closest I have ever seen to the original act.”

“If you close your eyes, it’s like you are with James Taylor.”
(Joan Collette Crines)

“Sweet Baby James is awesome and sounds just like your listening to JT!!!!”

“As close to James Taylor as James Taylor.”
(Lisa Quatrale)

“I cannot recommend Sweet Baby James enough!!!! He was INCREDIBLE!! My parents, husband, and I all said he sounded identical to James Taylor.”
(Kristin Strother)

“Fantastic performer playing difficult James Taylor guitar riffs and singing like James is in the room.”
(John Tillou)

“What a fantastic concert. Bill has an amazing James Taylor like voice, very entertaining & funny.”
(Wendy Gross)

I actually sound like James Taylor. I am not saying that out of conceit. The way I see it, I’ve been given a gift: I’m a life-long JT fan and emulator who’s been blessed to have vocal cords remarkably similar to his. James Taylor is very, VERY difficult to sing like. Then there’s his guitar playing! I’ve spent 30+ years working on these songs. Unfortunately, I hear it all the time… “we saw another JT tribute show but the guy didn’t really sound like James.” I promise you, people will not be saying that after a SBJ show at your venue. Watch some videos and judge for yourself.

Listen for yourself. You can find lots of live, un-doctored videos (not promo reels!) on Facebook and YouTube of me performing. And I’m always posting more. Here are a few:

Pure, Unadulterated James Taylor. There are multiple acts that sell a James Taylor tribute. All feature bands, anywhere from 3 to 8 people. Those instruments & volume offer a lot of cover forgiveness to the vocals & guitar playing of the lead. They also mean more overhead. Some acts are even now combining their shows with other tributes (like Carole King, Joni Mitchell, etc)… which sadly means a lot less JT!
Me & My Guitar: I put on a 100% James Taylor one-man-band show, as JT himself often used to. When I perform on stage, I’m out on a tightrope singing and playing those difficult guitar arrangements to an intently listening audience. There’s nowhere to hide. It’s all about his amazing songs – something I enjoy as much as the fans. I do not dress up like JT, and I don’t try to act like him. It’s a natural presentation. In fact, I take requests… so people hear the songs they want, AND no two shows are the same (great for return visits!).

Self Managed, with no red tape. Working with SBJ is simple and pain free. I travel with just me and my guitar – so rider, staging, production, etc, are a breeze. I run everything about the business myself, so you don’t have to deal with any agents, managers, or third parties. It’s straightforward, just like my show. People and relationships are among the top reasons I love what I do. You’ll find I’m easy to work with… before, during & after the show.
