Authentic JT Sound
I actually sound like James Taylor. I am not saying that out of conceit. The way I see it, I’ve been given a gift: I’m a life-long JT fan and emulator who’s been blessed to have vocal cords remarkably similar to his. James Taylor is very, VERY difficult to sing like. Then there’s his guitar playing! I’ve spent 30+ years working on these songs. Unfortunately, I hear it all the time… “we saw another JT tribute show but the guy didn’t really sound like James.” I promise you, people will not be saying that after a SBJ show at your venue. Watch some videos and judge for yourself.
Video Samples
Listen for yourself. You can find lots of live, un-doctored videos (not promo reels!) on Facebook and YouTube of me performing. And I’m always posting more. Here are a few:
A Tribute Like No Other
Pure, Unadulterated James Taylor. There are multiple acts that sell a James Taylor tribute. All feature bands, anywhere from 3 to 8 people. Those instruments & volume offer a lot of cover forgiveness to the vocals & guitar playing of the lead. They also mean more overhead. Some acts are even now combining their shows with other tributes (like Carole King, Joni Mitchell, etc)… which sadly means a lot less JT!
Me & My Guitar: I put on a 100% James Taylor one-man-band show, as JT himself often used to. When I perform on stage, I’m out on a tightrope singing and playing those difficult guitar arrangements to an intently listening audience. There’s nowhere to hide. It’s all about his amazing songs – something I enjoy as much as the fans. I do not dress up like JT, and I don’t try to act like him. It’s a natural presentation. In fact, I take requests… so people hear the songs they want, AND no two shows are the same (great for return visits!).
Easy to Work With
Self Managed, with no red tape. Working with SBJ is simple and pain free. I travel with just me and my guitar – so rider, staging, production, etc, are a breeze. I run everything about the business myself, so you don’t have to deal with any agents, managers, or third parties. It’s straightforward, just like my show. People and relationships are among the top reasons I love what I do. You’ll find I’m easy to work with… before, during & after the show.
